Some Reasons to Buy Used Cars

If you are forced to buy used cars while all your friends drive around in shiny new ones, it is obvious that you will feel a lot of envy towards them. What most people don't understand though is that buying used cars can turn out to be quite a wise decision. At the end of the day, your friends will be the ones who envy your bank balance. Let's take a look at a couple of the reasons how a used car can be a smarter choice than a new one:

1. The biggest benefit you derive from buying a used car is not losing value due to depreciation. Let me explain. Let's suppose you buy a new car. You will usually make a small down payment against it and commit to paying the rest of the money with the help of a loan. But did you know that the moment you drive the car off the dealership, it loses almost a third of its value? This means that even if you pay 20 % upfront for your new car, it will still be valued lower than what you owe against it. Why would anyone ever want to be in such a situation?

2. Most car dealers will offer new cars as well as old cars on their lots. You may sometimes even have a new and a used version of the same car on sale at the same time. The pre-owned car will obviously be a lot cheaper than the new one. Just because a car is a couple of years old doesn't necessarily mean that it is worthless does it? And if you are getting it for half the price, why wouldn't you at least consider it? Even if you take a loan buy used cars, you will be able to pay it off much faster. And since most car dealer’s offer extended warranties on their used vehicles, you won't really have to worry about it falling apart after a few months. But since you are getting the car at such a cheap price, you will save a lot on insurance premiums and could probably even sell the car off for almost the same value in a year or so. What more could you want?

Buying a used car will leave you with a lot of money which can either be saved or used to buy something else. You could perhaps buy a house before any of your friends with the money you save. You won't be the one doing the envying then now will you?
